In Industry 4.0, cloud computing plays an important role. At the same time, there are a lot of people who wonder what cloud computing actually is. In cloud computing, software is run on a computer somewhere in a data center or on the Internet instead of on your own computer. Nowadays, this is even done in such a way that a user does not even need to know where that computer is located. This makes it possible to build very fast, distributed applications that can be accessed from any location, via the Internet.

A very simple and well-known example is the display of traffic jam information in navigation systems. Data is collected and processed in a central location in the cloud and then accessed by navigation systems in autos and on phones. Read more in the articles below or scroll to the bottom of the page for more information on cloud computing.
