IBM aims to accelerate software innovation as newest High Tech Software Cluster member

IBM joins the High Tech Software Cluster to help accelerate digital transformation within the Dutch High Tech & Smart Systems industry.
IBM member of High Tech Software Cluster

Software innovation is the key to digital reinvention within the high-tech industry due to the large amounts of data and the need for connected devices. In these industries, we are seeing traditionally product-centric companies transform into eco-systems of solutions and services, elevating software to a cornerstone for their future proposition development and data-driven process improvement. This requires companies to invest in their software capabilities to modernize applications in a flexible, open and secure manner.

IBM has joined more than 30 software companies as a new technology partner of the High Tech Software Cluster (HTSC), a project ofBrainport Development located in the Software Competence Center (SCC) at the Brainport Industries Campus (BIC) in Eindhoven. This project focuses on technological developments in the manufacturing industry and the Smart Systems industry. IBM wants to work with the HTSC member companies to build innovative and smart solutions for manufacturers and electronics companies to support their digital transformation.

Collaboration in ecosystems is one of the strong drivers of innovation in a high-tech environment, said Edwin van Vianen, Electronics Industry leader Benelux, "We have a shared vision with HTSC that hardware should not only be modernized through software innovation, but also by building agility and open source to innovate at scale and speed."

Technical Release

Together withIBM Developerwe want to work closely with HTSC member companies to help software and cloud developers deepen their knowledge of various cloud and AI technologies, both open source and from IBM. The focus will be on overcoming technical challenges. Our team is all about open source code; everything we build is built and maintained on GitHub according to open source best practices. The IBM development team will provide technical hands-on workshops, tech talks or demos to explore the engines of innovation, and Developer Advocates to explore and improve developer capabilities for free.

Hybrid cloud & AI

"In addition to enablement and industry expertise, IBM brings a wealth of expertise and technology that our partners can enhance, complement or support in their acceleration of digital transformation. In addition, we have our research and development programs that can also add value to this partnership," said Victoria Bunyard, IBM CTO Benelux, "Just as importantly, we are bringing our global network of partners and collaborations to HTSC, with their own hybrid cloud and AI innovations, expertise and enthusiasm that can extend the ecosystem across borders."

About the High Tech Software Cluster

The High Tech Software Cluster is a project initiated byBrainport Development, to help industrial companies find their way in digitalization. The goal of this project is to jointly develop smart products, services and business models using software technology to stimulate innovation and value creation. The cluster develops and delivers the competencies, products, services and knowledge needed for smart companies that want to win the digitization race. The topics within HTSC focus on the themes of smart industry: robotics, digital factory, high tech software, future manufacturing 4.0 skills and capabilities, Internet of Things and Data & AI. The HTSC is part of the Smart Industry Fieldlabs associated with the "Factory of the Future" innovation program, located at the Brainport Industries Campus in Eindhoven.
