Recap event: Pioneering Rest

Eindhoven - Nov. 10, 2022, the Rust meetup "Pioneering Rust," organized by Second Wave in cooperation with the High Tech Software Cluster and Technolution was a great success.

On November 8, the Fieldlab of the HTSC was the place to be! More than 45 participants and speakers were able to get to know each other while enjoying a snack and drink prior to the event.

After the kickoff by Hugo van de Pol, Dion Dokter (embedded software engineer at Second Wave) spoke who shared his Rust knowledge with use cases. Jos Wetzels (security researcher at Midnight Blue) showed how they discovered over 100+ vulnerabilities in popular TCP/IP stacks that stemmed from using memory-unsafe languages. And how using a language like Rust can help reduce the risk of these types of vulnerabilities, and the associated costs.

Wouter Gereardts ( embedded software developer and Rust expert) took you into the Rust depths of content. The talks were closed by Jorrit Salverda ( software architect at Lightyear), he explained why Lightyear chose Rust and what to do with it in the development of the Lightyear Core Platform.

Afterwards there was an opportunity for networking, which was avidly taken advantage of. The participants found the event very valuable because the content of the presentations gave a good view on Rest. If you missed this event and would like to know more about Rest please contact Hugo van de Pol of Second Wave. The presentations can be downloaded via the buttons below.
