10 million growth capital for Bright Cape after joining forces

HELMOND/EINDHOVEN - Owner Erwin Cootjans of the Helmond-based logistics service provider Nunner is joining forces with the Eindhoven-based data analysis company Bright Cape. This company will receive over 10 million euros in growth capital through investments by Cootjans and the current owners.
Bright Cape helps companies make use of the enormous amount of data they possess. Using artificial intelligence, patterns in business processes are recognized and predictions can be made about upcoming developments.

Digitization and robotization

Nunner owner Cootjans also sees the added value in the global logistics services of his group of 625 employees. Accurate and efficient work is crucial here. Digitalization and robotization will play an increasingly important role in logistics, according to Cootjans.

"We need in-house knowledge of artificial intelligence."

"We need in-house knowledge of artificial intelligence," motivates the Nunner director. Through his company Baerbergh Holding he acquires half of the shares of Bright Cape. The other half remains in the hands of the Eindhoven investment company GGD Investments. GGD is also making growth capital available to Bright Cape.

High Tech Campus

The data company of founder/director Serge Beniers has grown in recent years to some fifty employees, spread across offices in the former Petra church in Eindhoven, in Amsterdam and on the High Tech Campus.

ASML and healthcare robot

Bright Cape works for companies such as ASML and Philips as well as banks and insurers. It is also involved in the development of healthcare robot Sara, which supports staff in healthcare institutions.

"We have a growth ambition with Bright Cape, both with multinationals and SMEs," says Bram van den Heuvel on behalf of GGD Investments. "To that end, we want to be able to employ more and better people."

Anticipating orders

The data company also wants to shape its growth through collaborations. In Cootjans it has both a financial partner and a party to join forces with in terms of content. For the application of artificial intelligence and robotics at Nunner, Bright Cape director Beniers sees a range of possibilities. He mentions, for example, the use of robots for picking orders in warehouses, combining loads based on historical data and anticipating upcoming orders based on previous orders.

The advantage of the cooperation for Nunner is that it can also offer its customers Bright Cape's services. The data company, in turn, can use the experiences at Nunner in logistics processes, particularly at manufacturing companies that it has as customers.
