Siemens Digital Industries Software joins the High Tech Software Cluster

Siemens Digital Industries Software joined the High Tech Software Cluster (HTSC). This marks the next step in the company's goal to expand its collaborative activities within the larger Brainport region. Patrick Fokke, Vice President & Managing Director Benelux: "We fully acknowledge that these kind of collaboration platforms are essential in sustaining and growing the competitive position of the Dutch high-tech industry. Combining knowledge, sharing best practices and consolidating our development power, truly enables Dutch manufacturers to speed up the transition to a smart industry."

Not the first and also not the last collaboration platform

Siemens has a long history in the Benelux region in supporting and initiating software development centers. For example, the company runs the Mendix Low code development platform in Rotterdam, the Manufacturing NC programming and 3D printing software platform in Hengelo, the Automotive Campus Helmond for test software for autonomous vehicles and the global headquarters for simulation software is based in Leuven (Belgium). Patrick Fokke: "Siemens has always been very open in sharing knowledge and expertise with its partners and other valued stakeholders. The synergy one creates with pro-active collaboration is something that is almost impossible to overestimate. Shaping and securing the future of the Dutch industry is not something that can be accomplished on an individual level. No organization exists in isolation. Digitalization extends throughout the industrial ecosystem, and collaboration between organizations is necessary to create value."

The Holistic Digital Enterprise

Siemens Digital Industries Software helps customers of all sizes advancing their digital transformation with its unique integrated Xcelerator portfolio, that combines software, (cloud) services and an application development platform. The Xcelerator portfolio blurs the boundaries between traditional stand-alone engineering domains such as electrical, mechanical and software and creates a closed loop between product design, production and product performance. Patrick Fokke: "In order to achieve this in highly complex environments we are focusing on three business imperatives: the comprehensive digital twin to merge the virtual and the real world, personalized and adaptable applications and services that meet all customer demands and a flexible and open eco system that ensures full interoperability. Organizations that have all of these key items in place can be considered to be holistic digital enterprises."

Education & Research

Siemens Digital Industries Software has expanded its range of domain expertise significantly over the past decade. Besides its core PLM solutions it now offers solutions in the areas of electronics design, manufacturing execution, industrial internet of things, application development and much more. This fits the current explosion of complexity the industry is facing, but it also means it becomes increasingly difficult to bridge the gap between the academic world and businesses. Piet van Dongen, Business Development Consultant: "The High Tech Software Cluster not only offers great opportunities in creating business synergies with other companies, but it also unlocks the potential of BIC to collaborate with schools and universities. Offering students access to our eco system and get them familiarized with the multidisciplinary aspects they will face in their future working life adds a great deal of value to their skillset. This makes them more valuable to future employers, and future employers can rely on a work force that is better aligned with today's requirements. I am really excited about Siemens joining the High Tech Software Cluster. It is a fantastic opportunity for us to drive and support innovative smart manufacturing programs together with other Brainport companies and educational institutions."

Siemens Digital Industries Software is driving transformation to enable a digital enterprise where engineering, manufacturing and electronics design meet tomorrow.
